History
Salsa music has its roots in Son, the traditional music of Cuba. Most specifically however, Salsa refers to a particular style developed in the 60's and 70's by Puerto Rican and Cuban immigrants to the New York City area.
First made famous by Johnny Pacheco and the Fania All Stars, Salsa has always been in flux, changing over the years with other influences, developing genres and sub-genres, but always maintaining its strong dance rhythms.
At our parties you'll be introduced to a whole range of Salsa genres, including: The earlier traditional stuff, Salsa Romantica, Timba, Dura and Reggaeton
You'll also hear some of Salsa's sister styles, like Bachatta, Merengue and Zouk.
